Adams, O.L.

O.L. Adams, age 81, died Sept. 22, 2008. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Winfield First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in West Alabama Memorial Gardens, Gu-Win with Miles Funeral Home of Winfield, directing.Survivors in her sons, Mike Adams (Sheila), Phillip Adams of Winfield; her daughter, Reba S. Guin, of Hamilton; her sisters, Laurene Hunt (JR) of Huntsville; Willie Tidwell of Tuscaloosa; five grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Winfield First Baptist Church Building Fund.


Bryant, Buren Edward

Buren Edward Bryant, age 90, of Winfield, died Sept. 23, 2008. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Miles Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Fayette County with Miles Funeral Home of Winfield directing. Visitation will be Thursday from 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.


Leonard, Vera Faye

Vera Faye Leonard, age 77, of Millport, died Sept. 22, 2008, at Northport Medical Center-DCH. Services will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Dowdle Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Higdon Church of God Cemetery in Kennedy with Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport directing. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.


Propst Sr., Jack E.

Jack E. Propst, Sr., age 82, of Kennedy, died Sept. 22, 2008, in Birmingham. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, 2008, at Dowdle Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. George Blakney officiating. Burial will follow in Kennedy City Cemetery with Dowdle Funeral Home in Millport directing. Visitation will be Thursday night from 6 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.Mr. Propst was born Oct. 31, 1925, to the late Ulie V. and Earnestine Babb Propst in the Palmetto Community of Pickens County. A veteran of the U.S. Navy who served during World War II, Mr. Propst attended and received a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from The University of Alabama and graduated from the Birmingham School of Law. He was a member of the Alabama Trial Lawyers Association, The University of Alabama Executive Club, and the Alabama Bar Association. He served as Attorney for the Town of Kennedy for many years and was a member of Kennedy Baptist Church. Mr. Propst was a practicing attorney for 49 years.Mr. Propst was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Grace Poole Propst, a sister, Alree House, and three brothers, Sam V. Propst, K.B. Propst, and Johnny Propst.He is survived by his daughter, Gwendolyn Annette Propst of Gatlinburg, Tenn.; two sons, Jack E. "Eddie" Propst, Jr. (Glenda) and Stuart K. Propst (Sandy), both of Kennedy; his sister, Kittie Jean Cooper (Leon) of Palmetto; his grandchildren, Adrian Cole Propst, Sharlon Marshall (Ronnie), Stacie M. Propst, Ingrid C. Propst, Cynthia L. Propst Raulston (Jonathan), Chelsea Watkins, and Amy Grace Propst; and two great grandchildren, Teegan Henry and Rhett Marshall.Pallbearers will be Ron Strawbridge, Pat Irvin, Steven Nolen, Jeff Kyles, Herbert House, and James (Buddy) Vice.
