Dan Anders

Dan Anders, age 89, of Fayette, passed away at DCH Regional Medical Center on Sept. 10, 2010. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Mt. Hebron Cemetery with Elder James Pugh officiating and Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home North directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at Mt. Hebron Church.

He was preceded in death by parents, Walter and Willie Merrill Anders and brother, Walter Franklin Anders, Jr.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Julia Agnes Hobson Anders; sons, Dan Hobson Anders and wife, Connie of Northport, and Joseph Earl Anders and wife, Donna of Northport; grandchildren, Eric Anders (Ashley) of Tuscaloosa, Dana Anders Terry (Lance) of Mobile; Scott Anders (Tara) of Coker, and Ashley Anders Crow (Brad) of Northport; great-grandchildren, Spencer Anders, Jaden Crow, Luke Terry, and Parker Anders; sister, Merrill Rudowski (Russell); and other relatives.

Dan was born November 3, 1920 in Tuscaloosa and grew up in Moores Bridge. He graduated from Tuscaloosa County High School in 1940. He served four years in the Army during WWII, nine years with

Southern Natural Gas, 16 years with the Alabama Dept of Agriculture, and was a life-long farmer.

Pallbearers will be Eric Anders, Scott Anders, Lance Terry, Brad Crow, Frank Rudowski, John Rudowski, Mike Anders, and Alton Strickland.

Honorary pallbearers will be friends and neighbors of the Moores Bridge Community, members of Pleasant Ridge Primitive Baptist Church and the Board of Directors of Tuscaloosa County Farmers Federation.

Those who wish to honor Dan's memory are requested to do so with a gift to Pleasant Ridge Primitive Baptist Church or Mt Hebron Church Cemetery.
