Dorothy Galloway Traweek Floyd

Mrs. Dorothy Galloway Traweek Floyd, age 88, of Fayette, passed away October 9, 2010 at Fayette Long Term Care.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 12, at 2-P.M. from Nelson Funeral Home with Dwight Geist and Kenneth Bozeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Berry City Cemetery. The visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Survivors include her son: George E. (June) Traweek of Northport, grandchildren: Terri (Jeff) Phillips, Joel (Pam) Traweek, and Anna Tucker, step-grandchildren: Staci (Keith) Etheridge, Lyndall (Wally) Helus, and Jamie (Casey) Crawford.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Fred Yerby and the staff of Fayette Long Term Care facility.

Active pallbearers will be Wayne Thomley, Bobby Hathcock, John Brock, Greg Jones, Edward Kimbrell, and Virgil Kilgore.

She was a life long resident of Fayette County. She taught first grade at Berry Elementary for 34 years. She was known as "Miss Dot" by those who knew and loved her. She was an active member of Berry Baptist, Rehobeth Baptist, and Fayette First Baptist Church. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, as well as Alpha Delta Kappa teacher sorority. Mrs. Floyd enjoyed her grandchildren, studying genealogy, traveling, and Alabama football.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Maye Arnold Galloway, sister: Anita Thomley, and brothers: Kenneth and Bobby Galloway.
