Jane McWhorter

Jane McWhorter, age 77, of Fayette, passed away February 26, 2013.  Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, at Fayette church of Christ.  Burial to follow in Berea church of Christ Cemetery.  Family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home.

“Jane McWhorter made an impact internationally with her writing, lectures, and seminars to women. The state of Alabama honored Jane as Elementary Teacher of the Year in recognition of her dedication as a first grade teacher for seventeen years. Jane’s other awards include Outstanding Handicapped Professional Woman in the State of Alabama and Alabama’s 1993 Mother of the Year.


Jane retired from teaching school. She devoted her time to serving God by her husband’s side until he passed. Both Don and Jane sent and received hundreds of letters each month, including Bible correspondence courses. They were involved with the Fayette church of Christ since 1974.”
